Spirit for Indonesia
Indonesia celebrate it’s Independence Day on August 17 . Almost all of Indonesian knew it. Civil servants, soldiers, polices and students always attend flag raising and flag lowering ceremony. But i’s very saddens if a lot of Indonesian ignore this important national celebration.
But ,the main problems is ,what we have done for our beloved country? It doesn’t mean we have to fight with sharp pionted bamboo like our heroes did during pre independence period. We are, as young generations will continue our heroes struggles in order to make our country better. We don’t have to wait the stateman to do it for us.
I bealive your history teacher teached you about Boedi Oetomo. Back to 1928 ,this young nasionalist organization proclaimed their pledge as one nation, one motherland and one language. The essential meaning of this pledge was asked all of Indonesian youth to be allied and fight the colonial. We need youth nationalist spirit like that.
Perhaps there are young who don’t have the sense of nationalism, but there also many people who still have a big pride as an Indonesian. Altough I realized that many youth that forget their national anthem and national songs. They prefer to listen modern pop music than the national songs. It is very embarassed. Slow but sure,we lose our loftly characteristic as our elder inherent.
We should not afraid about the globalization and foreign influences. We also need foreign workers and experts to develop our country. No one country in this world can sustain their economy,TI,research and academic institution without foreigners aids.
Basically, every Indonesian have same duty to make our country better . Youth have the extra works if wanna make change in our country. It mean we should not stand still and do nothing. We have to do the best wherever we are and whatever we do,especially in school and college. And we have a great deal for the prosperous of our country.
Spirit! We can do it!
Jayalah Indonesiaku.
